Young Wisdom is our tribute to the old dry-grown Mataro vines that have quietly shaped the Barossa for generations. Often hidden behind Shiraz and Grenache in classic blends, Mataro is the unsung hero of Barossa winemaking—bringing depth, spice and character. Every now and then, though, a vintage comes along that deserves its own stage.

The 2023 vintage delivered beautifully balanced fruit, allowing this remarkable vineyard to tell its story once again. Crafted only in exceptional years, Young Wisdom celebrates the resilience of old vines while adding a fresh chapter to the Barossa story.

Sourced from a character-filled old vineyard and matured for 18 months in French oak hogsheads and large-format foudres, this is a wine that rewards slowing down.

On the palate you'll discover generous layers of ripe plum, earthy spice and hints of Chinotto, wrapped in silky tannins that carry through to a long, rounded finish. Rich enough for slow-cooked winter meals, yet elegant enough to surprise anyone who thinks they already know Mataro.
